Dag Columnists
Online Disability Advisory Group (DAG) New Zealand
This Website is a concept website. I am working on ideas and designing as I go, I am creating a multimedia way for disabled people or those affected by disability, caregivers family or otherwise connected. The disabled community needs a better and easier way to connect with their local councils. It is my mission to make this happen.
Many Councils around New Zealand have disability advisory groups, but DAG group numbers are limited in most cases to 12 people, most councils have a rotational policy to ensure that the disabled community is represented fairly, unfortunately, in smaller centres, there may not be enough people interested to be able to rotate DAG members.
So the idea of this online group is to let councils around New Zealand know which issues affect you and ask if they can help make life easier with actions or good planning moving forward. Most of the main centres that have a DAG group I have supplied links to them on this website.
It would be good to form an online disability advisory group in each city, we really need each city to have its own chairperson and vice chairman. our Facebook page is the ideal way to communicate with the community.
The guidelines for joining this group are similar to what the council requires, but we are more relaxed and open join our facebook disability advisory group. The real beauty of this group will be the ability to have your say in the comfort of your home.
I want to start a monthly column in each city, I am going to need the support of the people to get this off the ground, please contact me if you would like to volunteer.
